Reflecting on Adaptation Canada 2020 While in Lockdown
More than any other message I heard at Adaptation Canada 2020 – from stakeholders, practitioners and researchers – was “we should do this more often.” The words differed from person to person and from conversation to conversation, but the need to bring together adaptation expertise at a national scale was on many minds.
The Fraser Basin Council did a remarkable job of registering as many people as possible leading up to the event, but even then, the conference hit its cap quickly. The demand might have been greater still if the conference had, in addition to key themes centred on adaptation actions, included streams on science, risk assessments or case studies.
